Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 June 2026
This policy explains how [Sequenz — registered legal entity name](“Sequenz”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, retains, and protects your personal data, and the rights you have under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the “DPDP Act”). For the purposes of the DPDP Act, Sequenz is the Data Fiduciary and you, the individual, are the Data Principal.
1Who we are
Sequenz is a video-template editor for creators and studios, operated by [Sequenz — registered legal entity name], with its registered office at [Registered office address, India]. You can reach us about anything in this policy at privacy@sequenz.app.
2What personal data we collect
We collect only what we need to run Sequenz and to keep you informed:
- Waitlist data: the email address you submit to join the pre-launch waitlist, plus the time you joined and which page you joined from.
- Account data: your email address and authentication details, handled through Supabase Auth (magic-link / sign-in).
- Content you create: projects, brands, uploaded assets, scripts, and renders you produce in the editor.
- Support data: messages and details you send us through contact or support forms.
- Technical & usage data: device/browser information (such as user-agent), IP address, and product-usage events used to operate, secure, and improve the service.
We do not use your scripts or uploaded content to train AI models.
3Why we use it, and our lawful basis
Under the DPDP Act we process your personal data only for lawful purposes, either with your consent or for a permitted legitimate use:
- To run the waitlist and tell you about launch — based on the consent you give when you submit the waitlist form.
- To provide the editor (store your projects, brands, assets, and renders, and authenticate you) — to deliver the service you asked for.
- To respond to your queries sent through support or contact forms.
- To secure, maintain, and improve Sequenz, including preventing fraud and abuse.
- To comply with law and enforce our terms.
Where we rely on consent, your request to join or to use a feature is the clear affirmative action that gives that consent. We will not use your data for any new purpose without asking you again.
4Consent and withdrawing it
You can withdraw your consent at any time — it is as easy to withdraw as it was to give. To withdraw:
- Use the unsubscribe link in any Sequenz email, or
- email privacy@sequenz.app and ask us to stop.
Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out while your consent was valid. After you withdraw, we will stop the relevant processing and delete or anonymise the data unless we are required by law to keep it.
6Cross-border transfers
Some of our Data Processors may store or process data outside India. Where this happens, we transfer data only to the extent permitted under the DPDP Act and applicable government notifications, and we require those processors to protect it under contract.
7How long we keep it
We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law. Specifically:
- Waitlist emails — until launch and for a reasonable period after, or until you unsubscribe or ask us to erase them.
- Account & content data — for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your data, except where retention is legally required.
8How we protect your data
We take reasonable security safeguards to protect your data, including access controls scoped to the authenticated user, row-level security on our database, signed URLs for stored files, and encryption in transit. If a personal-data breach occurs, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India and affected users as required by the DPDP Act.
9Your rights as a Data Principal
Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:
- Access — get a summary of the personal data we process about you and what we do with it.
- Correction & completion — have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected, completed, or updated.
- Erasure — have your personal data deleted where it is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected.
- Grievance redressal — have your complaints addressed by us (see below).
- Nomination — nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@sequenz.app. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us.
10Grievance redressal
If you have a concern about how we handle your personal data, contact our Grievance Officer:
We will acknowledge and respond to your grievance within the timelines required under the DPDP Act and its rules. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate your complaint to the Data Protection Board of India.
11Children and persons with disabilities
Sequenz is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly process the personal data of a child or of a person with a disability who has a lawful guardian without verifiable consent from the parent or lawful guardian, and we do not undertake tracking, behavioural monitoring, or targeted advertising directed at children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
13Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Sequenz evolves or as the law changes. When we make material changes we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Please review this page periodically.
